ABOUT THE ANCIENT GREEK GODDESS HERA:

Goddess Hera was worshipped in ancient Greece as a triple moon Goddess. Women revered Hera, and the three phases of a woman's life were represented by this Goddess. This altar piece is a hand embossed ORIGINAL DESIGN based on a depiction of the Goddess Hera dating 3500 B.C. In my design, Hera is pictured with two crescent moons as her hands and a crescent moon as her crown. The opposite side of this piece features a triple moon design in hand embossed copper in the shape of the Sacred Feminine triangle, a symbol used by Pagans for Goddess worship.

About the Lanterns of Rivendell: Rivendell was a Paradise home for the Elves. The name Rivendell means "deeply cloven valley" and is modelled after the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland, a place of incomparable beauty. Lord Elrond, King of the Elves in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, ruled Imladris, or Rivendell, and lived there with his family, including his daughter, the Elf Princess, Arwen. The Elves were great users of light. The Elves left Rivendell for the undying lands. This necklace was inspired by the beautiful lanterns used by the Elves of Rivendell during their departure.

Historically, Queen Olympias, Mother of Alexander the Great of Macedon, has been greatly maligned. She had a reputation for being a scheming, power-hungry woman. She was, however, a woman of great strength and assertiveness for her time. Perhaps only a person like Queen Olympias could have given birth and raised a person like Alexander the Great. She also had a reputation for being very beautiful, perhaps red-haired, and a protective mother to Alexander. The only surviving portrait of her is a coin of that time period (please see photos). Alexander reputedly traced his lineage through his mother to Hercules, the hero and God who greatly influenced his life. Others say that he also traced his lineage to Achilles through his mother. One thing is clear: Olympias had to fight, for what she felt was right, in a very chauvinistic society.

ABOUT "ARAGORN":

In Tolkien's writings, King Aragorn was a descendant Lord Elrond Half-elven's twin brother and the first king of Númenor. Aragorn's father was killed by Orcs when Aragorn was a child. He was raised by Elrond in Rivendell. Aragorn was tall, and had elven wisdom as well as foresight. He was humble and self-sacrificing, a healer, and a powerful military commander and warrior. He had impressive powers for a Man partly because he was Isildur's heir. Isildur had defeated Sauron in the past battle against Sauron but had weakened and kept the ring for himself instead of destroying it. When Sauron was defeated, Aragorn was crowned King of Arnor, the thirty-fifth King of Gondor, and the first High King of the Reunited Kingdom. Aragorn married the Elf Princess, Arwen, Elrond's daughter, and ruled the Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor until the 120th year of the Fourth Age. He died at the age of 210. Arwen died of a broken heart.

This handmade necklace is similar to Nimrodel, one of my other necklaces. In Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lothlorien was the home of the beautiful Elf Queen and Sorceress, Galadriel and her husband Celeborn. Lothlorien, the Golden Wood, was the only forest with mallorn-trees in Middle-earth. It had golden, green, and silver leaves. It seemed like time did not pass in Lothlorien.
